christmas star ornaments

Hi my friends, and welcome to december 17th.
Hope you are all fine, and enjoying your december.
Today is the last day of school before Christmas for my kids, and the christmas decorating of our house will soon begin.
We save the tree and the most "serious" decorating for the 23rd, (as we celebrate christmas eve on the 24th ;) )
But It is always fun and good to decorate little by little during december as well.
:)
Today I'll share some of my all time favorite STAR ornaments.
Love these tree.
As soon as you know how to make them they can be made in all sizes and variations.
Today I've made it easy for me, by just re-dericting you to some very instructive "how-to"s and videos.
You can find instructions on how to make the above beautiful swedish paper-star
Mine is not stuck together in the middle, but is all fluffy.
In Sweden these stars are usually made of wood / particleboard ("never" or "spon" in norwegian)
and the large ones have a light-bulb inside, and are hung in the windows.
:)
These super cute little 3D stars are made by Eirun and me the other day.
I love to hang them on the Christmas tree, or use them as decoration on my christmas gifts.
So fun to make and very affordable as decorations. ;)
You can find a great instruction on how to make them
This LARGE paper-star looks gorgeous in my window.
I used 3ndypapir "felicia" for my star.
My star has 8 points, and are made out of 2 pieces of 12 X 12 inch patterned paper.
The pieces for each point measures 6 X 6 inch, but you can make the star any size you like.
My star is glued together using a hot-glue gun.
In the instruction shown here the star has only 6 points, wich works perfect for smaller stars.
You can find the instruction
and another step by step tutorial
Thanks for taking your time stopping by my blog today.
Have fun creating, and enjoy the season!

December daily

I have been looking forward to start my "December Daily" for a long time now.
I really enjoy following this project by Ali Edwards every year.

You can read more about it, and see all Alis wonderful, premade pages on her blog.
My album just consists of blank pages, other than my cover, the very simple front page, des. 1st and des. 2nd.
No premade pages, but the pages will be made as I go.

I love the idea of premade pages that Ali does, just to fill in the picture and the story of today.
But my time ran away .... and - to be honest I think I fit best to make things as I go.... ;)
Here is my day one.
We had so much going on that day.
Putting up stars in the windows, decorating outdoors, baking traditional "knekkebrød" ( a crispy bread ).
Edvin brought home a little bird that had broke his wing, and that was a story to tell as well ....
So, lots of things...
I made this photo-collage to cover it all.
One whole page for journaling was good for this day.
On the next page I added a brown envelope with the recipe for the "knekkebrød" inside. :)
Here is the premade page for my day two.
I knew this day would be über busy. Me working, having a class in ski, hubby working, kids practising at the kids marching band, hubby working at the waldorf christmas marked ....

No pictures was taken this day.... so I'll have to sort out what to do...
This december album-project is really one of my favorite projects of the year.
It feels good to capture the little moments of everyday during this busy, wonderful season.

So many wonderful, talented people are joining alis DD2010, and I have the best time browsing trough the flickr-album.

Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great weekend.

warm toes :)

Hi my friends.
I'm sitting here by the fire, It is freezing cold in Oslo today, and we wear all the woolen clothes we can find in our houses. ;)

A really good day to knit or do something with warm soft wool and yarn.
I think this was the perfect day to share some really cute slippers I recently made, and they are SO comfy, soft and warm.
These are great gifts.
So easy and fun to make.
You tell me you are no knitter ...
Well, Don't worry! This pattern is for beginners and non knitters. ;)
It took me one evening to knit these slippers. ( and I'm a slow knitter!!)
So it is still time to make a few of these as gifts for christmas. :)
Mine are made with double tread of Mirasol from Du Store Alpakka, and knitted on needle eur #4.
You can use what ever yarn you like the best, just adjust the needle-number to fit the size of you slipper.
Size:
5/6½ - 7½/9 – 9½/10½ (US sizes)
35/37 - 38/40 – 41/43 (EU sizes)

Foot length: 22-24-27 cm / 8¾”-9½”-10 5/8”

Materials: DROPS ALPACA from Garnstudio
50 g for all sizes

For a more hard wearing slipper use DROPS Fabel or DROPS Delight.

DROPS POINTED NEEDLES size 3 mm / US 2or3 - or size needed to get 24 sts x 32 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''.

SLIPPER:
Worked back and forth on needle. Beg with strap over foot. Cast on 8-8-9 sts on needle size 3 mm / US 2or3 with Alpaca. Work GARTER ST – see above – for 8-8-9 cm / 3 1/8"-3 1/8"-3½", cut the thread and slip sts on a stitch holder. Cast on 18-20-23 sts (= towards mid front), work in sts from stitch holder and cast on 15-16-18 sts (= towards mid back) = a total of 41-44-50 sts.
NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! K 5 rows on all sts (first row = WS). Work next row as follows from RS: 1 edge st in garter st, K1, * P2 in next st, K2 *, repeat from *-* until 3 sts remain, P2 in next st, K1 and finish with 1 edge st in garter st = 54-58-66 sts. Continue with K over K and P over P and 1 edge st each side in garter st. When piece measures 16-17-18 cm / 6 1/4"-6 3/4"-7" work next row from RS as follows: 1 edge st in garter st, K1, * P2 tog, K2 *, repeat from *-* until 4 sts remain, P2 tog, K1 and 1 edge st in garter st = 41-44-50 sts. K 5 rows on all sts, bind off loosely.

ASSEMBLY:
Fold slipper double and sew tog each side inside 1 edge st. Sew strap to the other side of slipper, edge to edge.
Knit 1 more slipper in the same way
.

The pattern for these slippers are by DROPS design

You can find the pattern in Norwegian HERE.
:)
The slippers look like little knitted handbags when finished .... :p
But as soon as they are put on they fit so well to the feet. :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
Have a great weekend - and keep you toes warm. ;)

a beautiful day in september

Hi all.
Today was a wonderful sunny day in Oslo, just the way we like fall, with beautiful colors, crisp air and sunshine.
A perfect day for a lunch trip in our old wooden boat before it gets to "sleep" for the winter.
We went to one of these little islands in the inner Oslofjord. Enjoyed the last warm sunbeams and a delicious lunch with foccaccia, ham, cheese and wine.
Mmmmmmmmmm
Today was my last blogpost at "my Stamp BOX" blog. This design-team term ends oct. 1st, and I have decided, after three terms on this gorgeous team I have to step down, make room for new designers and give my self the opporttunity to find new paths.
I have really enjoyed the time with my Stamp BOX. Bettina creates so beautiful, versatile and fun stamps, and her company is so great, and last but not least, the girls at the design team are all wonderful, talented and super inspiring women. I'll miss it all!
Here is the fall layout I created using my all time favorite mSB-stamp-set " floating leaves". LOVE this set, and it must be the stamp set I have used the most ever.
I also used "just add notes" set and "symbols". Love these. :)

Happy and colorful

Hi all.
It has been a wonderful, sunny week in oslo this early september.
Love these warm, beautiful days in the beginning of fall, when it's still a little bit left of the summer.

I have been playing with my Little Shoebox papers lately. LOVE these colorful, happy papers. They always seems to make me smile - and spark my creative mind :)

Yesterday was my first day at the MLS blog.
WOW, I feel SO honored to be a part of this wonderful team :) :)

I made these little notebooks for my girls using the oh so cute "summer breeze" line.
just have to love the little birds. :)

Had to make a layout about my little cupcake maker too :)
the super-cute banners was perfect for this layout. :)
I was SO happy to get TWO wonderful punches by fiskars ( the little daisy punch, and the beautiful border punch) to use on the books and the layout as well. :)

The rest of this week will probably be über-busy ( so please forgive me if I'm not much around on my blog) with packing and shipping the new 3ndypapir christmas line to all the shops around Norway, Sweeden, the Netherlands......and everywhere else...
I will also get ready for my two classes in Trondheim this upcoming weekend at Trøndersaksa (a local crop / gathering).
I'm so looking forward to go to Trondeim - I'm sure it will be LOTS of fun :) :)

Happy week

A rainy day

Hi my friends.
It has been a rainy, gray day here in Oslo.
My car broke down last week and are still in "hospital". Don't know when it will be back.
Well, so we use this opportunity to really "get in shape" after a lazy summer.
Hubby riding his bike to his office 35 km each way,
me carrying all the grocerys for our 6 persons-family on my bike from the store 1,5 km away.
...
and the rain
...
Yes, this could have been a very bad day
...
but
I decided I didn't want it that way.
I wanted it to be a happy day.
SO
I used this rainy day to create a
for my norwegian / scandinavian friends
So they easily can buy 3ndypapir papers for their craft-needs
:) :) :)
and more good news:
I created (re-created) a
for my international friends.
:) :) :)
All this made me so happy and excited I just HAD TO create some fun little things.
This note-book idea had been in my mind for a while, and today was the perfect day for this to come true.
Besides I need a notebook before school starts to keep track of all the things I have to organize and remember.

Used 3ndypapir "søtt" and "sommerhilsen" (secret garden collection) for this project.
These little books will also make a cute gift for little girls. :)

I had some pictures of sol picking raspberries.
We had so much fun picking the berries and then make some raspberry jam for lunch the other day. Just needed to document this :)

Was totally inspired by Rondas august sketch contest over at Cocoa Daisy for this layout.
patterned paper-strips by 3ndypapir and hand chrocheted flowers from Etsy.

...

The weather lady tell us the sun will shine here in Oslo tomorrow.
Well, can't be better!
:)
